Mentor Foster Care Celebrates National Adoption Month this November

Sevita

MENTOR Foster Care, a provider of foster care services and part of the Sevita family, is celebrating National Adoption Month this November. National Adoption Month serves as a reminder of the bonds that form through adoption and the importance of providing children with loving, forever homes. The month honors the significance of family and the diversity of families and the paths which bring them together. It also raises awareness of the many children in need and encourages prospective families to learn more. Currently, there are over 390,000 children in foster care. Of those, the average age is around eight years old. However, children come from many different age groups and can be anywhere from infants to young adults up to 20 years old. They also come from many different backgrounds, situations, and needs and deserve a loving and caring home. Oftentimes, foster care becomes the pathway to permanent adoption, known as foster care adoption. Foster care adoption differs from the temporary foster care system — it represents a stable, reliable placement for children and teens in care and provides them with long-term support when reunification with parents is not an option. Fostering and adoption make long-term positive impacts when children are placed in a safe, loving home. For kids, benefits include trust building, educational support and growth, increased social and emotional skills, more positive longer-term outcomes, and more. Additional information on the benefits of foster care can be found here. The number of children adopted from foster care in FY 2021 was 54,240, a 6% decrease from the year prior (FY 2020) and over an 18% decrease from FY 2019. Additional foster families are needed as many children await their forever homes. Sevita’s Mentor Foster Care programs help foster parents provide an environment where children can thrive. Interested individuals can find a complete guide to becoming a foster parent and how Sevita can support you through the journey here. This National Adoption Month, Sevita and its Mentor Foster Care programs celebrate all foster families supporting children across the country and hopes to inspire others to join in its effort to support the youth who need it most. And for those who have adopted children, through foster care or elsewhere, Sevita shares seven ways to celebrate this month. ### MENTOR Foster Care is part of the Sevita family and has been a trusted provider of foster care services since 1980, when it first began offering services as Massachusetts MENTOR. Digital Detox: What is it and Do You Need One?

YourUpdateTV

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/jinxQF8-WHw By disconnecting from the digital world for an extended amount of time, people can experience reduced anxiety, better sleep, and a greater sense of presence in the real world. Digital detox also encourages healthier relationships with technology, aiding users in breaking the cycle of addiction to digital devices and regain control over their screen time. Especially as the holidays near, digital detox is top of mind for many Americans as they work to unplug and focus on being present with family, friends and loved ones. With the introduction of the new razr, Motorola is unveiling a new software experience called Moto Unplugged to help users take a break from their smartphone and remove distractions. Driven by Gen Z’s need to establish healthy boundaries with their devices, Motorola created Moto Unplugged to empower users to take a step back and match their mobile experience with their mindset - allowing them to choose when and how they want to disconnect. Setup is simple. Users choose essential apps and contacts they want notifications from. Then whenever they want to unplug, they select a time frame and start a digital break. For example, if a user needs to focus during work hours, they could choose to access only their email or Microsoft Teams and not see any other app during that Unplugged session. Or, for those looking to disconnect for some personal time, users can choose to limit which social media and messaging apps are accessible and which are temporarily blocked. That means more quality time with friends & family, more time to focus on the work that matters now, and more time to balance day-to-day life. Whatever the motivation may be, Moto Unplugged helps users disconnect and break away from the distractions of their phone. The pocketable design of the motorola razr and razr+ also lends itself to supporting users’ mental well-being with features like: An interactive external display: The razr offers a1.5" external display, ideal for those who want to disconnect while their phone is closed. Users can still view notifications, check their calendar and more on the external display, so they can stay connected, and not distracted. The 1.5" external display keeps users up to date with the latest notifications—without having to flip open the phone.. With the razr+, users have a larger 3.6" external display, which allows users to check notifications, respond to emails and messages, and manage virtually any app without opening the phone. This means users can check off tasks quickly without getting absorbed into their device. Innovative Flex View: Both devices also offer fun opportunities for content capture. Using Flex View, users can stand the phone at multiple angles - using it as a hands-free tripod of sorts. Both devices offer interactive camera features like Photo Booth, which can be fun for the whole family especially around the holidays. China News Service

LHASA, CHINA - Media OutReach - 20 November 2023 - Barkhor Street, located in the old city of Lhasa, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region with Jokhang Temple at its center, has a history of more than 1,300 years. As a renowned cultural and historical scenic spot, it is often packed with tourists and Buddhists worshipping at the Jokhang Temple. Over the past few decades, locals have been working on the renovation of the ancient buildings. How to preserve the heritage and combine it with local culture has become an important issue. "The oldest building in Barkhor Street is Jokhang Temple. The difficulty of conservation is that the buildings are ancient, so the renovation and repair need to be cautious," said Xiao Youming, deputy director of Bureau of Planning and Administration, Barkhor Old Town Management Committee, "There are still residents living in courtyards, so it is necessary to meet the daily needs of residents while protecting ancient buildings." Tourists flocked to various attractions in Lhasa to capture picturesque moments. On Barkhor Street in downtown Lhasa, visitors have been spotted taking photos in traditional clothing for keepsakes of their trip. Buddhists normally pray on white stones in the middle of the Barkhor Street. They feel comfortable on those smooth stones, according to Ci Cheng, party branch secretary of Barkhor Community of Barkhor Street in Lhasa. Making the Holiday Season as Easy as Shutterfly

YourUpdateTV

With the holiday season underway, the pressure to find that perfect gift or holiday card is beginning to intensify. In a recent survey of 2,000 people in the U.S. split evenly by generation (Gen Z through Baby Boomers), it was revealed that more than a third of respondents feel pressure shopping for someone who seemingly has everything. Recently, Jess Lesesky, Vice President of Merchandising at Shutterfly, participated in a nationwide satellite media tour to discuss tips for making the holiday season as easy as Shutterfly with personalized gifts and cards. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/MToXfnBM1g4 Shutterfly is the go-to destination to discover, design and purchase unique and personalized items and cards at a variety of price points within consumers’ target budgets. The brand offers a massive product assortment of over 600 customizable items as diverse as canvas prints, jewelry, coffee mugs, photobooks and holiday cards. The act of personalization is particularly important during the holiday season, as revealed by more than a third of survey respondents feeling more inclined to customize unique gifts during this time. And with many consumers focusing their spending on experiences like trips and concerts over the last 12 months, gifts that capture those moments and turn them into lasting memories are what consumers are looking to share with their loved ones this year. When it comes to holiday cards, more than half of all survey respondents say they still mail their cards versus sending via digital and social platforms. Two-thirds also prefer to receive physical cards as opposed to digital ones. Even for today’s digital-savvy Millennial and Gen Z consumers, physical cards and personalized gifts reign supreme in conveying the sentiment of the holiday season. Shutterfly is the undisputed leader in holiday cards, and on average, during the holiday season, produce 165 million cards – that’s half the population of the US. Finding the right gift can be hard, but Shutterfly makes it easy for you to create one-of-a-kind personal gifts in minutes that promise to bring smiles to faces all year long. Navigating Open Enrollment

YourUpdateTV

Open Enrollment season is underway, and as we look ahead to 2024, now is the time to assess health care coverage options and select the plan that is best for you and your budget. Recently, Rhonda Randall, the Chief Medical Officer of UnitedHealthcare Employer and Individual participated in a nationwide satellite media tour to share tips for navigating the Open Enrollment season. A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/mhpkMs2vBGk Enrollment periods aren’t the same for everyone, so there are key dates to keep in mind depending on your circumstances. Many employers set aside a 2- to 3-week period between September and December when employees can select health benefits for the following year. But just as millions of Americans prepare to choose health insurance for next year, a recent survey revealed that 1 in 3 people (36%) spend less than 1 hour reviewing their benefits options. For most people, not making an enrollment decision means you may be locked into your current plan for the upcoming year. If anything has changed this year – either with your current plan, health status or budget – that decision to do nothing could lead to unpleasant surprises or missed cost-savings in 2024. Because everyone has unique health and budget needs, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to selecting a health plan, it’s important to stay informed before making these decisions. When choosing a health plan, here are a handful of tips that will hopefully lead to better health and cost savings: Take your time and consider all of your options Learn the language Help prevent financial surprises Check for mental health coverage Don’t forget about specialty benefits Look into wellness programs Explore virtual care services Visit UHCOpenEnrollment.com for tips, resources and information on plans in your area About Rhonda Randall Rhonda L. Randall, D.O., is the Chief Medical Officer of UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual, the nation’s largest business serving the health coverage and well-being needs of nearly 28 million Americans. Dr. Randall collaborates with U.S. employers who are looking for quality, cost-effective, long-term solutions to health benefits for their employees and retirees. She also leads the clinical strategy development for these businesses to improve quality outcomes, ensure affordability and improve health and well-being. Cure Alzheimer’s Fund Launches WomenandAlzheimers.org

Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation

In honor of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund announces the launch of WomenandAlzheimers.org, a website dedicated to bringing awareness to the impact of Alzheimer’s on women, providing information on research into understanding sex-based differences and recognizing many of the women who are working toward finding a cure. There are more than 6 million people in the United States—and 50 million people throughout the world—currently living with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and experts estimate there may be as many as three times more people living with the disease who have not yet been diagnosed. Both men and women develop Alzheimer’s disease, but two-thirds of all patients are women, and women are frequently the primary caregivers for spouses, partners, parents and others with the disease. “For far too long, science has had a partial view into disease biology because only one sex was included in research studies,” said Meg Smith, CEO of Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. “Cure Alzheimer’s Fund has long required researchers to include consideration of potential sex differences in their projects. Understanding why and how Alzheimer’s develops differently in men and women, and the factors that increase resilience or risk, will lead to benefits for all Alzheimer’s patients.” WomenandAlzheimers.org is a resource to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease pathology, signs and symptoms, and the scientific discoveries that are advancing our understanding of the disease. Users can learn about ways to improve brain health, at any age, and read about the women who are working to find a cure, including researchers, Board members, staff members and advocates. About Cure Alzheimer’s FundCure Alzheimer’s Fund is a nonprofit dedicated to funding the most promising research to prevent, slow or reverse Alzheimer’s disease. Since its founding in 2004, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund has provided grants to the world’s leading researchers and contributed more than $180 million to research. Its funded initiatives have been responsible for many key breakthroughs in understanding the causes and pathology of Alzheimer’s disease. Cure Alzheimer’s Fund has received a 4-star rating for more than 12 consecutive years from Charity Navigator. With 100% of funds raised going to support research, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund has been able to provide grants to many of the best scientific minds in the field of Alzheimer’s research.
